Art lovers can head to Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art to explore the 20th-century surreal and expressionist works of the museum’s namesakes and their contemporaries, as well as special exhibits.

Step back in time Tarpon Springs Historical Train Depot Museum on East Tarpon Ave., where you’ll learn all about the vital role the railroad played in the growth of the area. Then, go in depth on this town’s natural and human history at the Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum on the grounds of Craig Park, which sits on picturesque Spring Bayou. Glimpse Florida’s Victorian roots at Safford House Museum, with its delightfully ornate decor and splendid furnishings. And catch a live performance at Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, a 100-seat venue and museum you’ll know by the large clock tower that tops this 1915 building. Or visit the Tarpon Springs Performing Art Center, a 300-seat venue inside Tarpon Springs City Hall that features quality entertainment at an affordable ticket price.

Looking for something a little more offbeat? Head to Replay Amusement Museum, where kids and kids at heart can spend hours playing vintage video games – from pinball to Pacman – in an old-school arcade setting. 

North of the Sponge Docks, Tarpon Springs Aquarium & Animal Sanctuary is an interactive experience you won’t want to mix. Three times larger than its original digs on Dodecanese Blvd, this family-run facility is where you can hold baby alligators, see giant tortoises and meet baby sharks and stingrays. 

Not far from here is St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral (it’s open to visitors most of the time - just enter quietly to view the stained glass windows and frescoed ceiling . Each January 6th, the church hosts an Epiphany Celebration that includes a tradition where boys from the Greek community plunge into the waters of Spring Bayou in search of a large white cross (the one who finds it is said to be bestowed with luck).
